Hello Xiyue, Thank you very much for considering taking on this package.
One issue is that no NEW packages are allowed into testing during the freeze. You would need a special exception. So I would suggest asking for that now before proceeding. Otherwise you'll need to fix the FTBFS some other way -- or perhaps patch out the dependency? I could review the async change but you set Aymeric as reviewer so I won't do it for now.
