Hi, I plan to do some changes in the emacsen spellchecking support currently shipped by dictionaries-common.
Debian integration historically required patched ispell.el and flyspell.el, but regarding GNU Emacs, relevant changes should already be included in upstream files, currently shipped by Emacs24. There are also some changes for compatibility with XEmacs and with older Emacs as well as some bug fixes backported from upstream. I am currently preparing a new upload based in ispell.el and flyspell.el from Emacs 24.5 and regarding it, I am planning to use upstream files for Emacs >=24.5, but keep old files for XEmacs and older emacsen. There are some new changes in Emacs-25 upstream branch that will not be easy to port to XEmacs, and keeping outdated patched files for all may interfere with newer Emacs versions.
