Right now, the core of the install/remove process has to be handled by
the add-on maintainer, whether by copying from an example, or starting
from scratch.

I'm certainly open to the idea of more automation where it's obvious
there's a "right answer" (that will work for all add-ons -- current and
future), or where its use can be made optional.
