Good question. I suppose one would need to ask them, and Manoj said he lacked the motivation to fight. So he won't be doing the asking. This is indeed a loss for Debian if ftp-master hurdles are sufficiently difficult to induce Manoj to quit this great package. I lack the knowlege of gnus to take it up, but I need it as a library for MH-E. So I hope the ftp masters will reconsider and Manoj will keep doing his excellent work. Peter
