Simply running $ emacs21 -q -batch
shows lots of messages like: Error while loading 50debian-el Error while loading 50dictionaries-common Error while loading 50dpkg-dev-el Error while loading 50emacs-goodies-el Error while loading 50gnus-bonus-el Error while loading 50mh-e Error while loading 50psgml-init Error while loading 51debian-el The error seems to occur in `debian-pkg-add-load-path-item' but I haven't tracked it down yet. Does anyone know about this? The problem surfaces in the installation of many elisp packages that use this form to invoke Emacs as byte-compiler. Peter
