TTY1 went bonkers last night. I had done "pr XF86Config | less." Halfway down the second page it started printing the old IBM text based graphic characters. (At least that's what they look like.) Upper case and numbers look ok, except for a few oddities, eg. the underscore is a space and the + is a right arrow. --just found the underscore, it's 's'.
I tried a shutdown/reboot from TTY2 to no avail. Everything came back the same. Would a hard shutdown make a diff? I can use the other TTY's all right. Output to the printer seems ok. Keyboard input is understood even if the screen echo is not I'm so new at this I have no idea what other info would help the gurus amongst you. I'm still trying to get X up, thus pr XF86... gt
