hdc1 was FAT32, as was hda1 (which did show up). The boot-floppies was (i think) 2.0.6 - it was the current set off of ftp.debian.org as of midday yesterday. hdc2 and hdc3, which I created with cfdisk during the install, did indeed get deteceted properly and initialized.
