this might have been suggested before, but what if submitting the MR included a control for "mail the maintainer(s)", which defaulted to on if the maintainer(s) had opted in, and was grayed out if the maintainer(s) had, for whatever reason, chosen to refuse salsa MR notifications? bonus points if this was made clear to the contributor *before* they submitted, or ideally worked on the problem at all. if i don't think a maintainer is going to be looking at salsa MRs, i'm going to mail them directly. this would seem to remove the extra step in that case. -- nick black -=- https://nick-black.com to make an apple pie from scratch, you need first invent a universe.
