Update: Problem still exists. However I managed to get touch-pad back to work after putting my Yoga laptop to suspend mode and back on. After the power is restored the touch-pad works. After full power cycle (power off and back on) it is again in non-working state.

I have also reproduced this several times. Suspend mode is applied with System power settings -> Ac power -> Laptop lid closed -> Suspend and then closing the laptop lid. Wake-up from suspend is managed by opening the laptop lid. After wake-up the touch-pad is working.

This may be either something related to system boot-up after full power cycle or then laptop lid sensor signal handling issue.
