There is also a hard-coded list of packages to be restarted if installed (and configured) in the postinst scripts of libc6 and (at least) libssl1.0.0 in case of they're upgraded to catch the most important packages (like Apache, OpenSSH, etc.) For all other needs of fully automatic service restarts I recommend needrestart as already mentioned by Jonas. P.S.: By coincidence there's currently a second thread about this topic on debian-devel, too. See e.g. https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/01/msg00314.html and https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/02/msg00320.html Regards, Axel -- ,''`. | Axel Beckert <a...@debian.org>, http://people.debian.org/~abe/ : :' : | Debian Developer, ftp.ch.debian.org Admin `. `' | 4096R: 2517 B724 C5F6 CA99 5329 6E61 2FF9 CD59 6126 16B5 `- | 1024D: F067 EA27 26B9 C3FC 1486 202E C09E 1D89 9593 0EDE -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
