-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 * Package name : pixz Version : 0.0.0+git$something Upstream Author : Dave Vasilevsky <d...@vasilevsky.ca> * URL : https://github.com/vasi/pixz * License : BSD 2-clause Programming Lang: C Description : parallel, indexing version of xz This is another parallel xz compressor/decompressor. Better long description to follow. You can look at pxz to get the general idea. Or imagine multithreaded xz. So why another parallel xz in the archive. - - This one seems about 25% faster compressing in some simple tests I ran (compressing a 2.7G file with 6 threads, maximum compression). Decompression seems to be a wash between xz, pxz, and pixz on files produced by xz. On files produced by pixz, pixz is noticably faster - - More importantly it does not seem to suffer from (because of being "indexable") http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=686502 i.e. busybox xz also works on the output of pixz The lack of releases is a bit annoying; perhaps upstream can be convinced to make some tags. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iJwEAQECAAYFAlCsOlsACgkQTiiN/0Um85nQ/AP+P9p1aoYfBz5uedA56KOO4r1i ZWXGcvGnVWRWjpqlueo/MP6xLP7rNpcOU6nkef9QC5iTJVBseWsItdDGnZ5lXhDZ UzO1MW8dXlCEDTg6qXECKrarTjzKWvvOY8syr+reKY49BBdHc60I7nv4ElXvC4X8 6omfI8s4AifX55n0/gI= =ULCR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
