It was a very long discussion that did not end in a major consensus the way I read it. Consensus was only between those favoring an event driven system but the advantages or requirements for an event driven system have not yet fully been disclosed in such a way that all questions raised are answered. > We do not need to be able to choose among multiple init implementations. According to my latest information only the DPL may speak on behalf of the project which can by overridden by way of a GR. I therefore conclude that YOU don't want to be able to chose among multiple init implementatioins.
