Same test on an xfs partition 1.15.8.5: real 0m22.494s user 0m3.384s sys 0m1.312s 1.15.8.6: real 0m48.842s user 0m3.360s sys 0m1.696s 1.15.8.6 (force-unsafe-io): real 0m18.967s user 0m3.412s sys 0m1.144s 1.15.8.6 (w/ patch posix_fadvise): real 0m48.524s user 0m3.872s sys 0m1.892s Looks like POSIX_FADV_DONTNEED has no effect on xfs. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
