This will probably not make it really possible to actually link software against libjpeg62, because in many cases an additional build-dependency on libgtk2.0-dev and/or libtiff-dev is needed, and if those depend on libjpeg-dev… > But then we are back to the transition the release managers tried to avoid. The alternative is to file many more RC bugs for packages that currently build-depend on libjpeg62-dev. For instance, emacs23 is unbuildable after the latest tiff upload.
