Every window manager in Debian understands the Debian menu; and
this uniform acceptance is the primary reason, in my opinion, to not
deprecate the Debian menu system until we can replicate the
functionality.

While aesthetics are important, a regression in functionality
cannot make up for pretty interfaces.

If every package that currently provides a menu entry provided a
Freedesktop.org menu entry, this shall not change.

Hmm. I would think just about any application that can be
launched from a menu can be launched from the command line; so I am
missing something in this line of argument.

Which is wonderful, if Debian were to only support Gnome in a
