No, I don't think your impressions are right. People would love to have Sun JVM in non-free or even better in main, but the current license does not allow us to distribute Sun JVM. This game is being played by some rules and those people just don't like the idea of breaking the rules just to have Sun JVM. Well at least that's my impression.
