You should most definately /not/ do such things by default. Think about it: 'make' without -j won't hurt on an SMP, but it will hurt on a non-SMP system. If you really want to do this, try using MAKEFLAGS. -- EARTH smog | bricks AIR -- mud -- FIRE soda water | tequila WATER -- with thanks to fortune
