Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name : rng-tools Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : Jeff Garzik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/gkernel/ * License : GPL Description : Daemon to use a hardware RNG
This package provides rngd, a daemon that feeds data from a random number generator to the kernel's random number entropy pool, after first checking the data to ensure that it is properly random. By default rngd gets its random data from /dev/hwrandom. /dev/hwrandom is provided by the hw_random kernel module, which supports the hardware RNGs in Intel, AMD and VIA CPUs, with recent chipsets. However, rngd can collect its data from any suitably random source. This package supersedes the intel-rng-tools package, which is no longer being maintained. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux helium 2.6.0-test4 #1 Wed Oct 15 05:15:59 EDT 2003 i686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C
