With repeat_lang="LOCALE", menu use the LOCALE environment variable. Why use /etc/environment instead ? The current problem is that not all window managers support menu file in every charsets, neither iso8859-1 and UTF-8 are always supported. Our roadmap is: 1) Gather data about which wm suppoort what encoding 2) Provide a way for menu-methods to specify charset they support. 3) make translations the default.
