Joey might have said that, but I believe the consensus was "it's a nice feature". The description is not a random dumping-ground for information, but what information we include is entirely arbitrary. If people like having the URL in the description (and they do), there's no reason why it shouldn't be included unless you want to make a case for "Packages.gz bloat".
