Package: texlive-base-bin
Version: 2007-5
I am seeing a problem where the upgrade of texlive-base-bin is causing an OOM,
curing the running of the postinst. Tonight I upgraded the unstable chroots on
paer.debian.org(hppa) and merulo.debian.org(ia64) and both had the problem. I
don't know if it's specific to those archs, or the chroots, both, or neither.
Someone on IRC said their upgrade on an i386 non-chroot worked.
I investigated some on merulo. I ran the postinst with "set -x" and discovered
that the problem was with running "fmtutil-sys --all". If I run that by hand,
it seems to get into a loop, repeating this
fmtutil: running `etex -ini -jobname=xmltex -progname=xmltex &latex
xmltex.ini' ...
This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6) (INITEX)
%&-line parsing enabled.
kpathsea: Running mktexfmt latex.fmt
Sorry, I can't find the format `latex.fmt'; will try `xmltex.fmt'.
kpathsea: Running mktexfmt xmltex.fmt
and it spawns etex processes until the machine goes OOM.
