--- Begin Message ---Package: upstart-compat-sysv Version: 0.3.2-1 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system After running rcS.d scripts, the boot process halts with: init: Error while handling control message: Invalid message received After this no further activity occurs. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del causes more of these messages. I found that the message occurs when the /etc/event.d/rc-default task issues 'telinit 2'. I placed echo both before and after the statement and the message was printed between them. It seems likely that the shutdown program causes the same problem when invoked in the /etc/event.d/control-alt-delete task (the task causes it and there is nothing else in the event). The system information below reflects the faulty configuration -- I send this message from system brought up via init=/bin/bash. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-amd64 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=cs_CZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages upstart-compat-sysv depends on: ii initscripts 2.86.ds1-38 Scripts for initializing and shutt ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii sysv-rc 2.86.ds1-38 System-V-like runlevel change mech ii sysvinit-utils 2.86.ds1-38 System-V-like utilities ii upstart 0.3.2-1 event-based init daemon upstart-compat-sysv recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- Jan 'Bulb' Hudec <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
