After some additional testing I have now committed the patch (r45661). During the tests only one thing showed up: the end of the partition is (not always?) aligned on a cylinder boundary, which causes fdisk to complain "Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.". Ben has suggested a way to debug that. I'll try to do so. Colin: I would very much appreciate it if you could review the patch.
