But at the beginning of the bug page I read:

"Found in versions hal/0.5.7-1, hal/0.5.7.1-1, 0.5.8.1-5, hal/0.5.8.1-6;"

and Ubuntu Edgy uses hal 0.5.7.1 without problems. Weird.

Unfortunately not, sorry, I will be very busy from tomorrow on.
Anyway, frugalware already uses a vanilla 2.6.20.
