Hi Ludovic, Ludovic Danigo [2007-03-02 15:44 +0100]: > Starting PostgreSQL 8.1 database server: main* The PostgreSQL server > failed to start. Hmm, this is indeed weird, and the inability of loading root.crt should not be fatal either (it's not logged as such). Can you please give me the output of ls -l /var/lib/postgresql/8.1/main/root.crt /etc/postgresql-common/root.crt (as root in the etch chroot) Can you resolve 'localhost' in the chroot? If there is no /etc/hosts, can you please do echo '127.0.0.1 localhost > /etc/hosts apt-get -f install does this now successfully start up PostgreSQL?
