Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi, a week ago i did go to reboot an Apple XServe G5, which was in a
datacenter. What was not my surprise to see that it didn't come back online.

The machine had an sata_svw based sata controller, and is using a 2.6.18
debian kernel, and has a LVM on RAID setup.

After some infuriating wait time and initramfs-tools archeology, i found out
that the problem was due to initramfs-tools trying to bring up the RAID/LVM
before the disks finished mounting, and thus failed to find the devices.

I discussed the issue with Maximilian Attems, and he said he had also seen a
similar issue, with a LVM/RAID on usb disks setup, and mentioned it was caused
by : "udevsettle has a buggy kernel<->userspace seqnum interface with the scsi
code".

Today i went to the datacenter again, and tried a clean install, and the same
problem happens in d-i. The module is loaded, but the /dev/sd* devices are not
created. Creating them by hand work, but then the system freezes during
base-installation, and i don't really know why. I took the system home, for
easier investigation, so let's take this oportunity to fix this issue now.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Hi,

One of the last uploads of udev fixes the issue. I have not the time to
look for details in the changelog and a new upstream release occured
in the mean time...

Anyway, it is settled. I tested it on Sven's hardware which I have
access to.

Cheers,
