The latest version of update-inetd (4.27-0.3) breaks the ability of
debootstrap to install postfix like so:
debootstrap --include=postfix etch destination
I have verified that this works correctly with 4.27-0.2.
Postfix dies in the package configure stage because of strange debconf
behaviour. What led me to discover the source of this bug is that
debconf somehow returned "Restarting internet superserver: inetd", which
is related to bug #399788 fixed in this latest version.
To see this, I chrooted into the broken debootstrap chroot, and changed
/var/lib/dpkg/info/postfix.postinst to execute with "-x". Here is some
relevant output:
