Hi, This seems a bit of a situation. ( My not knowing the politics and methods involved in upgrading a package).
The package version in question (Version: 0.96.1svn12109-1) is still broken. As the manual edit should not be required and without it, it will not run. Concerning the security hole question I will concur, and the problem does not seem to affect the system in general. I agree that an updated version should be uploaded, which will hopefully close a few more bugs as you suggest. However, this version of the package ( as stated above),I believe should be deleted or remain tagged to prevent it from progressing. i.e. I believe the 0.96.1svn12109-1 version should be a non-RC version but later versions should be allowed upon their merit. I downloaded gtk-gnutella/0.96.3 from source and that seems ok so far. Hope this meets with your approval. Of course there are others more qualified to decide on how this issue is resolved. I would imagine that if a later version is uploaded that does not have these bugs then the bugs would automatically be removed. Obviously the source version 0.96.3 seems ok , so for instance if that was uploaded, This bug should be obsolete.
