Package: mplayer
Version: mplayer 1.0~rc1-11
Severity: serious

I installed mplayer and get the codecs via the script in
/usr/share/mplayer/sc ripts/binary_codecs.sh.
According to the binary_codecs package provided by mplayer
website,after the binary_codecs(essential-amd64-20061203.tar.bz2)
installation, only drvc.so is installed. But when try to play a real
video, mplayer try to find the drv4.so.6.0 codecs,so only audio decoder
is ok but video decoder is failed.

The following is part of the log file:
==========================================================================
Opening video decoder: [realvid] RealVideo decoder
realvideo codec id: 0x40002000 sub-id: 0x01081020
opening shared obj '/usr/lib/codecs/drv4.so.6.0'
Error: /usr/lib/codecs/drv4.so.6.0: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory
ERROR: Could not open required DirectShow codec drv4.so.6.0.
Read the RealVideo section of the DOCS!
VDecoder init failed :(
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x30345652.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!

So I have two solution for arch i386:
1.download the rp9codecs-20050115.tar.gz2 and installed it to the codecs dir.

2.make a symbol-link drv4.so.6.0 of drvc.so after the installation of
binary_cod ecs via the script.

But for any other arch such as amd64,the rp9codecs-2005115.tar.gz is
not availab el because this binary codecs is only for i386 arch,so
solution 1 is not work for alll the arches in debian.

So I suggest the second solution. It works fine in my amd64 box.

btw:plese give more instruction in Readme.Debian about the codecs of
mplayer, for many people who did not notice the binary_codecs is arch
specific often get puzzled when they DID install the rp9codecs at
/usr/lib/codesc but the mplayer stil l report "No such file"
