Patching file rc.sys-rc? Take care, the patchfile doesn't contain the exact filename to patch. Try with: patch /etc/init.d/rc --dry-run rc-bootsplash.patch or copy the patchfile to /usr/share/sysv-rc-bootsplash/ (overwriting the old patchfile) and run 'dpkg-reconfigure sysv-rc-bootsplash'. > ...since the Etch freeze started...
