Hello! I've just found that the problem you reported with fmit is not only alsa related but also depends on your soundcard hardware. I have both a SB Live (emu10k1) and an onboard soundcard (intel8x0) on my system and when using emu10k1 fmit does not segfault, while it does when using intel8x0.
What sound hardware do you have and what driver do you use? (Please submit output of "lsmod" and "lspci" command) I don't know if it's related but I get a warning about mixed channels when fmit is about to crash which the maintainer (who can not reproduce the problem) isn't getting. Could you please submit the console output that you get when starting fmit ? (Start fmit from an xterm window) Please CC [EMAIL PROTECTED] on your reply.
