Then either you've filed this bug against the wrong version of the package
or the bug is still present in unstable, because 2.1.10~beta3+0.0.4b-2.1 is
the version of ptex-bin that entered testing yesterday or the day before.
Where are the logs for these piuparts tests?

Hmm, a cursory glance at the ptex-bin postrm shows that yes, the package has
only been fixed to not call *mktexlsr* unconditionally on purge -- it still
calls update-texmf unconditionally on purge.  So it's still broken, and in a
rather grautuitous fashion, because there is no reason for update-texmf to
be called at *all* on purge.

I'll plan to do a follow-up NMU for this today or tomorrow.
