Package: mailman
Version: 2.1.5-8sarge5
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

an incompatibility problem between python 2.4 and the mailman version
in stable is causing loss of every messages sent on mailman lists.
Error log is full of "decoding unicode is not supported" exceptions. I
think the problem is fixed in newer mailman upstream version.

sarge (Debian stable) has Python 2.3 as default python version, so
this does not apply to it. If you run a newer python, backported from
testing/unstable or run a mix of stable/testing and/or stable/unstable
(as you seem to be doing), you indeed need to upgrade mailman if you
upgrade python to 2.4. Mixing stable and later is not supported out of
the box, you must apply some clue yourself.

And you cannot get to a logical conclusion from that?

That's from unstable, not even testing.

That's from unstable.
