X-Original-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Original-To: debian-kernel@lists.debian.org Subject: Bug#395247: [s390] System clock runs wild (in hercules emulator) Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2006 22:31:54 +0200 From: Frans Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.18-2 Severity: grave After booting my hercules emulator with 2.6.18, I noticed some errors during a packages upgrade, like: tar: ./config: time stamp 2006-10-27 10:52:22.00126 is 4290.653417 s in the future Further investigation showed that the system clock in running wild: $ date Fri Oct 27 05:36:58 CEST 2006 $ date Fri Oct 27 05:41:40 CEST 2006 $ date Fri Oct 27 06:25:24 CEST 2006 $ date Fri Oct 27 09:01:09 CEST 2006 $ date Fri Oct 27 18:19:04 CEST 2006 These 'date' commands were given within 15-20 minutes or so. Actual time when the emulator was started was around 2006-10-24 17:30. After rebooting the emulator with 2.6.17-9, the problem was gone. This series from a later boot with 2.6.18, taken within 2 minutes, is even crazier. It shows the clock jumping all over the place (real time Oct 24, 22:30): $ date Wed Oct 25 09:10:10 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 08:06:19 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:26:43 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:32:17 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:35:45 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:40:40 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 08:32:08 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:49:38 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 09:51:44 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 08:41:32 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 08:42:45 CEST 2006 $ date Wed Oct 25 08:43:59 CEST 2006 I'm running hercules 3.04.1 on an EM64T host system. The system clock on the host runs normally. ----- End forwarded message ----- -- maks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
