Note that I cannot reproduce this in a default Debian install of Etch, even if I select all "server" tasks together. I suspect that this is particular to debian-edu because you have some other package that changes configuration info, which causes the "strange configuration" (quoting Petter) that update-inetd wants to ask about. You could try if delaying those configuration steps to later helps you work around this issue. Cheers, FJP
