Package: gbdfed
Version: 1.1-2
Severity: grave

I am running a Debian/etch system on amd64.

The program will map a window, and can even load a BDF font. As soon as I
attempt to edit a character, however, or read the online help---crash! I am
seeing not only segfaults, but also glibc complaints of memory corruption.

This program does not appear to be 64-bit compatible (I am assuming that it
works acceptably on 32-bit x86), and should arguably not have made it into
testing. What's worse, because xmbdfed has been obsoleted in favor of this
program, I am left without an effective BDF editor on Debian. (For the
record, xmbdfed worked fine on this same system.)

I have tried building gbdfed from the author's sources, with both post-1.1
patches attached (one of which ostensibly fixes some 64-bit issues), to no
better effect.
