Looking at the first post regarding this bug, I see a line "autoheader: error: AC_CONFIG_HEADERS not found in configure.in" and others errors following that one. I think the best way to solve all those automake problems will be to include the configure script to the debian package and no longer depend on automake stuff for building the package. I will do so as soon as I get time.
