It is not, however, a machine dependency; it's a python-version dependency. I'm afraid that compliance with the Brand New Python Policy is not on the list of release goals for etch, and I'm not going to be able to make lilypond fully comply right away. If someone submits a patch then I will consider including it, if tests show that it does in fact work. I understand the goals of the new python policy, and I'm in agreement with them and I have no objection to the way the policy is laid out. But with the python team having delayed for months to make it happen, it's now too late to insist that everyone else must snap-to and implement it instantly.
