As the maintainer of pycares and aiodns, I am reporting that pycares
version 5.0.0-3 introduced changes that break compatibility with the
current aiodns (3.6.1).
The aiodns upstream has explicitly limited the dependency to pycares < 5
due to these incompatibilities. The presence of pycares 5.0.0-3 in
Unstable is causing regressions in the tests of aiodns and all its
dependent packages (such as aiohttp and others), blocking migrations to
Testing.
Please block migrations from pycares 5.0.0 to Testing until aiodns is
compatible. I have updated aiodns with a version restriction (<< 5.0.0)
to allow its own migration with version 4.9.0, which already resides in
Testing.
