Hello, Bastian! I would like to keep this package. Bugs are fixed upstream and I'll do an upload once my key is updated in the keyring :) Been a little busy, sorry. Engine interface is deprecated, yes, but still works in the whole 3.x branch, so the package is relevant until we migrate to 4.0.
