The reason for this failure is a change upstream did: /usr/share/X11/xkb was renamed to /usr/share/xkeyboard-config-2/ (to support more versions at the same time I guess)
Quick temporary workaround: $ rmdir /usr/share/X11/xkb # i.e. only if it's empty $ ln -s /usr/share/xkeyboard-config-2/ /usr/share/X11/xkb
