I am downgrading this bug as it does not occur in unstable. When ghc6 and libghc6-cabal-dev finally reaches testing the bug should not occur anymore. It might still be a good idea to call ghc-pkg with update instead of register to make sure the bug never occurs again (For instance if someone installs a new version of Cabal globally and after that installs libghc6-cabal-dev). I am leaving the bug open so it is not forgotten Greetings Arjan
