If mounting sysfs (which is done by some other package) fails then do not expect anything from udev. The second message is about udevd having been started two times, which is not possible if its startup script is run once. The d-i code in udev has not changed in a long time, so I doubt that this is an udev bug: -rw-r--r-- 1 md users 1138 May 16 18:06 extra/udev.startup -- ciao, Marco
