Hi,

It's been 2.5 years since the last update on this bug, which was Paul Gevers asking whether it would be acceptable to apply Andreas' patch without the versioning scheme change, but this went unanswered.

This bug is now in the list of RC bugs for trixie, having it already been tagged bookworm-can-defer and bullseye-can-defer, I fear it's heading towards getting a third of those.

Julian, does the approach proposed by Andreas in https://salsa.debian.org/debian/ca-certificates/-/merge_requests/6 make sense, apart from the versioning scheme change?

Otherwise, I'm wondering whether a 6 year old RC bug that has remained silent for years with no consequences actually warrants staying at RC (and even open). Is this bug still causing problems, after that ca-certificates-java changed the dependencies?
