Hi Jeremy, any ideas to move forward here?

Two places it is trying to use pdfjs are in app/assets/javascripts/pdf/ index.vue and config/pdfjs.constants.js I think the error is coming since it is trying to find pdfjs-dist relative to config directory, which is a symbolic link to /etc/gitlab. The actual node module is present in /var/lib/gitlab/node_modules which is symbolic linked to /usr/share/gitlab/node_modules as well. Trying to balance between FHS/debian policy, yarn and ruby conflicting expectations on which directories should be writable.

Trying with ROOT_PATH set to /var/lib/gitlab in config/pdfjs.constants.js
