Sorry, I didn't notice the patch link in that message before.

Ok, I can confirm that this patch works; you're right, autopoint takes care
of the incompatibility with automake1.4.  That's enough to satisfy me, I'm
closing this bug and switching the 'block's over to the other dummy bug.
