Hi Thomas, IMHO this bug is pretty easy to fix by adding a missing header (I've no tried but it smells like this). The fact that you did not uploaded the package longer than 10 years might mean we do not really need this package in Debian.
Just let me know whether you think its worth keeping/salvaging (and if
so in what Git repository) or whether I should ask for removal.
