One big blocker to being able to automatically fix this is that the new app does not appear to have a command line method for importing the old exported file.
Do we need to export the old database or is it already in a known location that could be imported by the new app? Debian has user-session-migration which can be used to write custom user-level upgrade scripts for cases like this where upstream doesn't provide their own upgrade path. gnome-authenticator has a fairly low popcon but the statistics do suggest that people kept gnome-authenticator installed even though it was completely unsupported in Debian 12. > clicking on the '+', 'preferences' and 'providers' buttons crashes the application You need to file a separate bug for that issue, both here and in upstream. I don't have enough information to duplicate that issue here. Thank you, Jeremy Bícha
