Dear maintainer(s),

I looked at the results of the autopkgtest of your package because it showed up on the gcc-14 migration tracker. I noticed that it regularly fails on armel and armhf, but I've seen the same failure at least once on i386 too. See link below. When the test passes, it immediately continues with output. When it times out, nothing in the log until autopkgtest aborts the test.

Because the unstable-to-testing migration software now blocks on
regressions in testing, flaky tests, i.e. tests that flip between
passing and failing without changes to the list of installed packages,
are causing people unrelated to your package to spend time on these
tests.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help and some more information
from our infrastructure.

Paul

Could you please confirm whether the problem persists in version 6.4.23+dfsg-1 of the package?

Always difficult to say from the outside with flaky problems. I scheduled praat a couple of times and it didn't fail yet. Of course that's no guarantee.

Thanks for your reply, Paul.

Yes, the issue with flaky problems is that they are not reliably reproducible.

At any rate, I took a look at the upstream changes between versions 6.2.14 (the one regarding the current bug report) and 6.2.24 (the one currently in sid). There has been massive changes in the LPC/{*Formant*,*LPC*}.{cpp,h} files. This may (or may not, who knows?) explain the fact that the unit test test_Formant_slopes.praat is not timing out anymore.

I am hereby closing this bug report, such that the praat package can make its way into testing.

Feel free to reopen this bug report, if you see fit.

Best,

Rafael Laboissière
