Are you scanning over a network or locally?

Let's see if we can reproduce it with scanimage. What does the following do?

Looking at the the core dump, it seems to be dumping from ScanCoreApi.so.3, which I assume is part of the Brother driver, as it doesn't have anything to do with SANE or gscan2pdf. scanimage --device="brother5:net1;dev0" --resolution=300 -y 279 --mode="Black & White" -x 216 --source="Automatic Document Feeder(center aligned,Duplex)"
