I have been using gscan2pdf for many years. My scanner is a Brother ADS-3300W,
connected by wifi, and it also has been working fine for a long time (months or
years). I use it exclusively with gscan2pdf.

Today, it started segfaulting on scan. It always segfaults when scanning in
duplex mode. I have tried both color and B&W modes and both trigger the
segfault so long as it's in duplex mode. (In non-duplex mode, it seems to work
sometimes.)

Just one sheet (with the 2 duplex sides) triggers it. Two sheets in non-duplex
mode will not.

gscan2pdf causes the scanner to fully scan the one page; the segfault appears
after the scan.

I am attaching the --log output as well as the segfault info.

Thanks for the report.

Looking at the the core dump, it seems to be dumping from ScanCoreApi.so.3, which I assume is part of the Brother driver, as it doesn't have anything to do with SANE or gscan2pdf.

Are you scanning over a network or locally?

Let's see if we can reproduce it with scanimage. What does the following do?

scanimage --device="brother5:net1;dev0" --resolution=300 -y 279 --mode="Black & White" -x 216 --source="Automatic Document Feeder(center aligned,Duplex)"
